The secret behind a successful camp lies in its counselors and instructors. Gan Israel prides itself on its exceptional staff. Our counselors are chosen for their professional competence, their personal warmth and their ability to understand and care for each child as an individual. All staff come with prior camp experience and a desire to work with kids. Counselors are fully trained in CPR and First Aid. Bunk sizes are kept small and well staffed. Our camper to counselor ratio is 1 to 4 in the Kiddie Kamp and 1 to 6 in the older divisions, and this does not include our wonderful C.I.T.’s. Each elective is run by professional instructors.

Rabbi Dovid & Chaya Rosenfeld, Camp Directors

Rabbi Dovid and Chaya Rosenfeld are the directors of the Phyliss & Irving Snider Camp Gan Israel of Birtish Columbia. Rabbi Dovid comes from Brooklyn, NY, and loves to share his "Yankee pride", along with lots of sweets and treats, with the Camp Gan Israel children. Chaya is a born-and-bred Vancouverite who loves to teach and bring innovative, creative programming to Jewish families across BC.
The Rosenfelds live in Vancouver with their 6 children.
