The secret behind a successful camp lies in its counselors and instructors. Gan Israel prides itself on its exceptional staff. Our counselors are chosen for their professional competence, their personal warmth and their ability to understand and care for each child as an individual. All staff come with prior camp experience and a desire to work with kids. Counselors are fully trained in CPR and First Aid. Bunk sizes are kept small and well staffed. Our camper to counselor ratio is 1 to 4 in the Kiddie Kamp and 1 to 6 in the older divisions, and this does not include our wonderful C.I.T.’s. Each elective is run by professional instructors.

We take great pride in our commitment to recruiting, training and keeping the highest quality staff in the camping profession. This ensures the best possible care, instruction and supervision for our campers. Our counselors are highly trained, dedicated, and experienced.

 

Rabbi Dovid & Chaya Rosenfeld, Camp Directors

Rabbi Dovid and Chaya Rosenfeld are the directors of the Phyllis & Irving Snider Camp Gan Israel of Birtish Columbia. Rabbi Dovid comes from Brooklyn, NY, and loves to share his "Yankee pride", along with lots of sweets and treats, with the Hebrew School children. Chaya is a born-and-bred Vancouverite who loves to teach and bring innvoative, creative programming to Jewish families across BC.
The Rosenfelds live in Vancouver with their 5 children.

Hi! My name is Rivka Butman and I’m from Brooklyn NY. I have been a counselor in day camp for the past few summers in Tannersville, NY, as well as the director of a Girls Shabbaton    and various other children’s programs. Hi, I’m Bassie Andrusier from Columbus, Ohio. I’m so excited to come back to CGI Vancouver for a second year! I’ve also had experiences in other CGI’s and Hebrew Schools in the US. I enjoy baking, reading, and hanging out with friends and family. 

Hi, my name is Chana Holzkenner. I am so excited to work in Vancouver this summer! I grew up on Shlichus in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. I have been a counselor for the past 5 summers, and I love working with kids. I was also a Hebrew school teacher.
